What's your nervous system mode?

What if your reactions
are trying to tell you something

There are four states your nervous system moves through when it feels unsafe. Most people live in one - and have no idea. This guide shows you which one's yours.

Which one keeps showing up for you?

Fight mode You snap at people you love over tiny things. You feel like you're constantly braced for an argument that hasn't happened yet.
Flight mode You're always doing, always busy, never able to sit still - but underneath all the productivity, something feels like it's running away.
Fawn mode You say yes when you mean no. You read every room before you speak. You've lost track of where other people end and you begin.
Freeze mode You feel stuck. Numb. Like you're watching your life from the outside. You know something needs to shift but you can't find the door.

None of that is a character flaw.
It's a pattern - and once you can see it, you can work with it.

The map you didn't know
you were missing

Most of us were never taught that the body has a logic - that snapping or shutting down or people-pleasing aren't random, they're responses. When you can name which mode you're in, you stop fighting yourself and start getting curious instead.

Four modes. One nervous system.
Which one do you recognise?

Fight mode

Fight

Anger, explosions, control, slamming doors - your body believes there's a threat and it's gearing up to face it.

Regulation tools include Cold water therapy, high intensity movement, shaking, scream therapy, journaling the trigger
Flight mode

Flight

Overthinking, perfectionism, workaholism, panic - your body believes the safest thing is to keep moving and never stop.

Regulation tools include Deep belly breathing, power walking, grounding, yin yoga, hands on body
Fawn mode

Fawn

People-pleasing, no boundaries, self-critique, codependency - your body learned that keeping others happy kept you safe.

Regulation tools include Setting and enforcing boundaries, shaking, checking in with your own emotions first
Freeze mode

Freeze

Numb, stuck, dissociated, exhausted, can't decide - your body has shut down because it ran out of other options.

Regulation tools include Diaphragmatic breathing, full body check-in, singing and dancing, self massage, yin yoga

About Jess

She knows what it's like to live in survival mode

I'm Jess - Reiki Master/Teacher and Intuitive Healer based in Adelaide. I spent most of my life cycling between rage I couldn't explain and a numbness I couldn't shake. No one ever taught me that my nervous system was just trying to keep me alive.

Years of energy work, breathwork and bodywork changed that. Once I learned to recognise which mode I was in - and stopped shaming myself for being there - everything shifted. My relationships, my energy, my ability to actually be present in my own life.

This cheatsheet is the resource I would have handed myself ten years ago.
